Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and Michelin Australia will continue their strong partnership into the 2013 season.
The French tyre brand has been the Official Tyre Partner of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia from its debut in Australian motor racing in 2003, with this season marking the 10th anniversary of the start of the association.
The new partnership will continue the professionalism and high quality service to its competitors, according to Porsche Cars Australia Motorsport Manager, Jamey Blaikie.
“Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and Michelin Australia have enjoyed a long and beneficial partnership since the category’s inception in Australia in 2003,” said Blaikie.
“Michelin provides exceptional products and second-to-none technical service to our Carrera Cup teams. This helps us in our goal to deliver Australia’s most professional motor racing championship.”
Thierry Martin, Michelin Australia Managing Director, is excited about continuing Michelin Australia’s strong connection with the premier one-make sports car championship.
“Together Porsche and Michelin have a long and successful history around the world, both on and off the track. But our partnership is more than just supplying tyres; it is a true technical partnership. Designers from Michelin work closely with Porsche to develop tyres that delivers total performance,” said Martin.
“The DNA of our Porsche race tyres is present in the road tyres designed specifically to meet the high standards required by Porsche. After being tested in the extreme conditions of a race track, innovations that increase tyre tread life, ensure sustainable tyre performance, improve safety and enhance energy efficiency are then used to develop Michelin passenger car tyres.”
The renewed partnership will also see Michelin feature on the windscreen banners of the entire Porsche Carrera Cup Australia field for this weekend’s Clipsal 500 event.
