TekworkX Motorsport have unveiled a special livery for Aaron Love’s Carrera Cup car in support of the Brain Foundation, after Team Owner Rob Woods experienced two brain aneurysm ruptures last year.
The team are raising donations to the organisation with the aim of raising awareness and supporting vital research to help other families facing similar journeys.
Rob underwent emergency surgery in June last year, before undergoing another procedure later in the year in order to have the aneurysms stented. Thankfully Woods was given the all clear in April earlier this year but will still have to undergo monitoring every 12 months.
Unfortunately shortly after receiving the all clear Rachelle Woods, Rob’s daughter and TekworkX’s Accounts and Operations Manager, was also diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. Rachelle now needs to be monitored every six months in order to keep an eye on her condition.
Having two members of the same family affected by brain aneurysms has brought home just how important awareness, research, early detection and ongoing support are.
Love will run the special livery, which was heavily inspired by Rachelle’s 4-year-old daughter Willow, across the Gold Coast 500 weekend with every donation no matter how small welcomed via the team’s donation link here – https://fundraise.brainfoundation.org.au/t/t-x-motorsport
TekworkX Motorsport will field four cars in Carrera Cup this weekend, with Clay Osborne and Aaron Love sitting third and fourth in the points. Diesel and Josh Thomas will also take to the track as they continue their impressive rookie campaigns.
Patrick Vanderzwan – Team Manager
“Having seen the effects firsthand last year and not understanding the initial seriousness of it all at the start, and then the ongoing struggles Rob has had to overcome the past 12 months, it’s given everyone within the team a new understanding. We want to spread that awareness of the importance of research and preventive measures that can be undertaken to treat these terrible conditions.
“Having learnt over last few months that it can run in a family and having Rachelle also be diagnosed with a similar condition to her dad was really distressing for all of us here at TekworkX and the Woods family.
“So Aaron and I thought what’s a cool idea to draw attention to this foundation and create a stir. We reached out to the only responsible person in the Woods family to make a big decision like this, Willow, and said what would you put on the car and with her guidance for her Mum we landed on this flamboyant design you see now.
“The car looks great and it’s supporting an even better cause, so we are excited to be able to have a super successful weekend on and off the track! And thank you to everyone for all the support in us doing this.”
