Craig Baird and Shane Smollen have taken the TAG Heuer Pole Position Award for the fourth round of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia in Townsville.

The Kiwi posted his top time of 1:14.1995 early in the session, only completing five laps in total and therefore saving his bank of tyres for the coming three races.

Baird will start alongside Friday pace-setter Nick Percat from Steven Richards and Michael Patrizi on the second row, with Shae Davies and Warren Luff to start on row three.

Shane Smollen was the best of the Elite Class qualifiers, starting seventh on the grid from Duvashen Padayachee, Tony Bates, James Koundouris and Max Twigg in 11th.
