TWO-TIME Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Champion Harri Jones will jump behind the wheel of a Supercar this week for an evaluation test in South Australia.
Team 18 will run an evaluation test for Jones at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park today, as he takes the wheel of the #18 DEWALT Racing Camaro.
Jones, a champion in both open-wheel and sports car racing, has steadily built his reputation as one of Australia’s brightest motorsport talents. His journey began in Formula Ford before he clinched the 2018 Australian Formula 3 Championship. He then moved overseas to compete in the MRF Challenge, followed by a spectacular debut in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, where he won the title in 2019.
In 2021, Jones stepped up to the Porsche Carrera Cup, securing the championship in 2022. His successful European stint in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup was followed by another Carrera Cup Championship win in Australia this year.
“Having been a fan of the Supercars series for as long as I can remember, today is a pretty special day getting my first taste behind the wheel.” Jones said.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity Charlie [Schwerkolt], Adrian and the entire crew at Team 18 has provided and excited for what the future may hold.”
“There will be a lot to learn today, and I’ll be using every bit of my experience in the sport to get up to speed as quickly as possible. I’ve spent countless hours on the sim preparing and I’m confident it will be a productive day.”
Team 18 Team Principal Adrian Burgess is eager to give Jones the opportunity to showcase his skills in the team’s Gen-3 Camaro.
“We’re excited to have Harri join us for this evaluation test.”
“He’s demonstrated immense talent in multiple categories and has a proven track record of success here and in Europe.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to see how his talents translate to the Gen-3 Supercar, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do behind the wheel of the DEWALT Camaro.
“Harri has great potential, and we’re eager to explore how he might fit into the future of Team 18.”
The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship and 2025 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship will each kick off at Sydney Motorsport Park from 21-23 February.
