FORMER PORSCHE Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia Pro-Am Champion Liam Talbot will return to the category for the remainder of the 2026 season.
The Queensland-based driver will return to Wall Racing for the remainder of the 2026 championship commencing in Round 2 of the championship at Hidden Valley Raceway on June 12-14.
It heralds a return to a category and the same team with whom he claimed the 2019 title.
Talbot also claimed the 2022 Pro-Am Enduro Cup crown and has claimed three round wins and won 16 Pro-Am races in his Carrera Cup career.
His return comes amidst one of the strongest TechSpecialist Pro-Am fields in years; 11 cars starting the opening round in Melbourne last month.
Since completing his most recent Carrera Cup stint in 2022, Talbot has become a noted GT ace including claiming the 2023 GT World Challenge Australia Sprint title, and the 2024 GTWC Sprint and Endurance titles, plus an outright podium at the Bathurst 12 Hour.
He will join Jake Santalucia and the recently signed Richard MacDonald in a now three-strong Wall Racing attack this year.
His return comes alongside the first weekend featuring Carrera Cup’s new ‘Enduro’ format, which will see a pair of 45-minute races on the Darwin program; mirroring the international Carrera Cup race format.
“It’s great to be coming back to Wall Racing and to Porsche Carrera Cup,” Talbot said.
“I have many fond memories from my time in the category and winning a championship with the team in 2019, which is one of my career highlights.
“I know the team and the car well and even though we have missed one round I am confident we will be able to contend for victories from Darwin onwards.
“We are hoping to pick up where we left off and really enjoy the next six events.”
“It’s fantastic to have Liam come back to Wall Racing where we have had great success especially in 2019 And 2022 in the Pro-Am class,” Team Owner David Wall said.
“Liam is a great addition to our team and is also a close friend, so we are looking forward to getting underway ASAP in preparation for the next round in Darwin.
“Also, a special thanks to Drew Hall, who also made this possible with Liam taking over his car for the rest of 2026.”
Talbot’s return to Carrera Cup adds increasing depth to the Pro-Am field as he lines up against reigning champion Rodney Jane, plus 2025 podium finishers Matt Belford and Dean Cook and three-time champ, Stephen Grove.
Talbot’s livery for his return to the championship will be unveiled at Hidden Valley next week.
