Former Porsche Carrera Cup Australia champion and reigning runner-up Alex Davison is eager to go one better this season when lining up for new Porsche team, President Limo Racing.
Following the departure of series champion Matt Campbell to Europe, the Queensland based Davison returns as one of the firm favourites to claim the 2017 title, 13 years after he was last crowned Carrera Cup champion.
Davison enters this weekend’s Clipsal 500 as one of two winners of the Adelaide round in the field – Davison won on the parklands circuit in 2012 while Nick McBride enters the event as defending round winner.
Davison is now eager to get the season underway with the ambition to reclaim his Carrera Cup crown.
“It’s really exciting to be part of the Carrera Cup championship again this season. As usual the field is really competitive and, once again, we have an awesome race calendar,” said Davison.
“I’m excited to be part of the newly formed President Limo Racing. George Kenyeres is a great supporter of Carrera Cup and it’s great that he’s stepped up his involvement with this team. It’s also fantastic to have the continued support of Phase 8 and to welcome Polar Electro Australia has a major backer for my 2017 Carrera Cup campaign.
“My goal this season is to go one better than the last. I have a really good team looking after my car in Ash Seward Motorsport and I’m confident that we can fight for race and round victories throughout the season and hopefully, ultimately, I am in a position to take the title when we line up for the final round in Gold Coast.”
The 2017 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia championship kicks off this weekend at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide on March 02-05, 2017.
