Nick Foster, the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia champion, has secured the opportunity to race in the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship with Gulf Racing.
Foster will join team principle and driver Mike Wainwright and former Carrera Cup Australia racer Ben Barker in the Gulf Racing Porsche 911 RSR for the entire 2017 WEC sports car championship, which includes the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Foster competed in last year’s Porsche Carrera Cup Germany series before the move to the Milton Keynes based team in the Pro-Am sports car entry.
“I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to compete in the 2017 WEC and can’t wait for it to kick off!” said Foster.
“I am very grateful to Gulf Racing and proud that they have chosen me to join their team. To compete in the WEC is a dream come true and in the famous Gulf Racing colours is an absolute honour. I know there are many challenges that lie ahead, but with strong pace and results for the team in 2017 we can look forward to challenging at the front in a very competitive Pro-Am category.”
The drivers will come together for the first time in April for the WEC Prologue, where Foster will get his first taste of the car, before the season opening Silverstone event on April 16, 2017.
