BASED OFF THE TEAM KIWI RACING PRESS RELEASE
Team Kiwi Racing has confirmed that Adam Gowans has secured a seat in the TKR Porsche for the remainder of the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia season.
Gowans drove with Team Kiwi Racing at the Porsche Rennsport Australia Motor Racing Festival earlier this year where the Tasmanian racer was the co-driver in the winning Professional Class combination with Shae Davies.
After Davies and Gowans qualified in pole position, the duo placed second in both co-driver races to take victory in the Professional Class and finish second outright for the round.
“I had an absolute blast in the TKR Porsche at Rennsport,” said Gowans.
“I really appreciated the way TKR worked with myself and Shae Davies in the build-up to the actual Rennsport event, during the test day prior to the Rennsport festival and the way TKR made myself feel at ease all weekend at Rennsport, which ultimately saw the TKR car win the Professional Class.
“I have always aspired to compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup championship against some of the best drivers in this part of the world, and thanks to TKR the Rennsport opportunity gave me a taste of what it is like.
“I have now been fortunate enough to secure an exciting opportunity with TKR to drive for the rest of 2013 Carrera Cup championship which will allow me to get some more miles under my belt in a Porsche at some of the most exciting race tracks and events we have here in Australia. I can’t wait.”
Gowans comes into the TKR Porsche seat with a solid resume behind him:
Following several stints of kart racing, Gowans debuted in Aussie Racing Cars in 2007, where he completed three full seasons – 2008, 2009 and 2010. Gowans finished in the top three each year, a time which included the 2009 championship win and a close runner-up in 2010 after claiming the most individual race wins in his title defense season.
Having missed the majority of the 2011 season and all of 2012 through business commitments, a return to Aussie Racing Cars in 2013 saw Gowans win six of eight races and lead the standings. Gowans also competed very strongly as the lead driver in the Simply Sports Cars outfit in Class C at the Bathurst 12 Hour in 2011, 2012 and 2013, and was very unfortunate not to have claimed a class victory.

“I look forward to working with Adam Gowans again and for the rest of the 2013 season,” said Team Kiwi Racing Team Owner, David John.
“During the time I have spent with Adam at the Rennsport event and the feedback from TKR staff over that weekend and the prior test day at Sydney Motorsport Park, it made the decision to go with Adam Gowans as the TKR driver for the rest of the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia season as a logical decision.
Adam knows the team members, has met key supporters of the team, did a great job at Rennsport, has experience in this car and just wants to go racing with the right focus and attitude.”
Gowans will compete as an Elite Class driver in the remainder of the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia championship driving the TKR Porsche at Winton, Bathurst and the Gold Coast.
