Porsche Carrera Cup Australia title winners Stephen Grove and Steven Richards have been recognised for their 2014 on-track achievements at the Porsche Motorsport Night of Champions last weekend in Germany.
Held at Porsche’s Research and Development Centre in Weissach, Grove and Richards were awarded at the Night of Champions for winning the Elite Class and outright championship, respectively, for the 2014 Carrera Cup Australia season.
The Australian champions were also taken for a tour of the Porsche Musuem at the companyโs headquarters in Zuffenhausen, Stuttgart, along with visiting production lines of the Porsche 911 and 918 models.
Grove was thrilled to be awarded in front of some of the worldโs best sports car racers at an event that places a large emphasis on semi-professional drivers.
โIt was great to be recognised for my achievements this year at the Night of Champions on the same stage as Mark Webber and Earl Bamber,โ said Grove.
โTo be awarded at such a prestigious international event as a semi-professional racer to quite special, especially in the same room as such a great to mix with other semi-professional and professional drivers from around the world. Mark Webber came over to our table to congratulate all the winning drivers from Australia.
โThe whole experience was fantastic, from visiting the Porsche Museum and 911 factory including the 918 production line to being part of the Night of Champions. It was also great to see Earl Bamber be announced as a Porsche factory driver after having driven with him at Rennsport last year.โ
Richards was also proud to be awarded at the international event.
โThe Porsche Night of Champions in Weissach is an incredible event. It was great to be recognised for our efforts and also to catch up with other drivers doing great things with Porsche, including Mark Webber.โ
