Michael Almond has taken his second victory of round six for Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia’s first ever visit to The Bend Motorsport Park, while Roger Lago was the best of the TAG Heuer Pro-Am.
Almond started on pole position and lost the lead at the start, only to regain his place at the front soon after. From there, Almond held off David Wall and, in the closing stages Jaxon Evans, to eventually take his third Carrera Cup race win – all of which have been in his native South Australia.
Evans finished second to extend his series points lead from David Wall and Jordan Love.
Roger Lago was the best of the TAG Heuer Pro-Am, winning the class battle from Adrian Flack, who charged through the field following a heavy race one accident.
Race one Pro-Am winner Sam Shahin was a non-finisher after sustaining race-ending damage due to contact with Tim Miles.
Race three will be held at 12:35pm local time.
