Popular racer Warren Luff will return to Carrera Cup Australia in 2019 following a stint on the sidelines as driver coach.
Following two seasons racing for McElrea Racing in 2013 and 2014, Luff moved aside in 2015 to make way for young gun Matt Campbell, who ultimately moved to Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and replaced by Jaxon Evans in the #7 McElrea Racing entry. With Evansโ own move to Supercup, Luff will return to the #7 seat for the 2019 Porsche season.
โItโs exciting to be back in Carrera Cup โ 2014 was the last time I was there but Iโve still been very close to the team and working with McElrea Racing since then as a driver coach,โ Luff told motorsport website Speedcafe.com.
โIโve always loved Carrera Cup, itโs a great championship and Iโm excited to be back there.
โOur goal for going back is that we want to win races, weโd love to ultimately win the championship, but Iโm not taking anything for granted.โ
Luff hopes to expand on his three round wins and seven race wins he earned from his two Carrera Cup seasons, finishing runner-up to Steven Richards in his second attempt.
The 2019 Carrera Cup Australia season will kick off in Adelaide from February 28, 2019.
