Nick McBride retains his outright points lead of the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia championship despite not taking Albert Park honours.
The Melbourne racer holds a 23.5 point buffer over both Alex Davison and Matt Campbell – the duo are equal on points in second.
“My pace was a lot better this weekend, I was among the front guys in every race. Alex found a bit of pace this weekend but I’m happy where we are at,” said McBride.
“The championship favourite is Matt Campbell, so poor Matt has all the pressure on his shoulders and I’m able to sneak around and keep on collecting points. Obviously I would have liked to have won this weekend, but we’ll head to the next round and see if we can win there.”
Meanwhile Tony Bates continues at the front of the TAG Heuer Carrera Challenge standings despite a horror Albert Park round, though Stephen Grove’s impressive Melbourne performance sees him reduce the gap to him and points leader Bates to just 25.5 points.
