Michelin Australia will continue its strong partnership with Porsche Carrera Cup racing in Australia into 2015, starting with an increased presence at the season opening Clipsal 500.
As the Official Tyre Partner for the Porsche championship, Michelin will continue as the exclusive tyre supplier for the entire 2015 season, a supply echoed by all eight Carrera Cup championships worldwide.
Michelin is also the Carrera Cup event partner for this weekend’s Clipsal 500 event in Adelaide, featuring windscreen banner branding on every Porsche in the championship.
Porsche Cars Australia’s Motorsport Manager Kurt Sakzewski is pleased to start a new season with the continued support of Michelin.
“Porsche Carrera Cup is synonymous with Michelin tyres and we’re incredibly excited to enter our 11th season in Australia with the brand. Michelin has been a long term supporter of Porsche racing both in Australia and globally and we’re looking forward to continuing this partnership into what will be one of Carrera Cup Australia’s greatest seasons yet,” said Sakzewski.
Michelin Australia Managing Director, Cedric Binoit, is looking forward to continuing the premium partnership with the Porsche championship.
“We are proud to be chosen to continue our long and successful partnership with Porsche Motorsport, both globally and here in Australia with Porsche Carrera Cup Australia. Porsche sets the bar very high of Michelin, and the Michelin tyres deliver exactly what the drivers need; speed, reliability, and above all, safety,” said Binoit.
“For Michelin, motorsport is the ultimate test of performance. What we learn on track we use to build our road tyres including the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 – the tyre chosen for the Porsche 918 Spyder.
“We wish all the competitors a safe and successful 2015 season.”
The Michelin tyre used in Carrera Cup Australia is the Michelin Cup N2 (27/65-18 front and 31/71-18 rear dimensions), designed to match the demands of the German manufacturer in terms of durability and performance. As this Michelin tyre is used in all Carrera Cup championships, it has been designed to perform in all conditions, from the cool climate in Europe to the heat and humidity of Asia and the dry heat experienced in Australia.
