After a break of nearly five years Rodney Jane will return to Porsche Carrera Cup Australia this weekend and be reunited with MICHELIN motorsport tyres.
Jane is no stranger to the performance of MICHELIN tyres having spent many years racing in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia before making the switch to the V8 Supercar development series in 2009.
“I am excited about returning to Carrera Cup and running MICHELIN tyres again,” said Jane.
“Michelin have a reputation for developing excellent tyres, and I am sure these will be no different.”
Michelin will join Bob Jane T-Marts in supporting Jane and regular Championship competitor Nick Percat for this round which will run a different format to the regular rounds. There will be two, one hour mini-endurance races with the driving shared between two drivers. Each entry is required to run both a Professional driver and an Elite driver in a move that is sure to create even closer racing than has already seen this year.
Held at Sydney Motorsport Park on May 25-26, 2013, Rennsport will be a celebration of all things Porsche event which will host a round of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia along with Porsche historic racing, demonstrations and regularity.
Michelin Australia Managing Director, Thierry Martin-Lassagne said that as a global tyre partner of Porsche, Michelin was proud to support the Rennsport event.
“Globally Michelin’s involvement with Carrera Cup is more than just supplying tyres; it is a technical partnership with designers from Michelin working closely with Porsche to develop a tyre that ensures the total performance of the cars on which it is fitted,” said Mr Martin- Lassagne.
“This is true not only of our competition tyres, but also our tyres that are fitted to Porsche road cars, mean Porsche drivers can be confident that a Michelin tyre will deliver the high performance that they expect.
“We are also pleased to be able to work with Rodney Jane on the race track again. I wish him and the rest of the field the best of luck for the race!”
The weekend kicks off with practice and qualifying on Saturday 25 May, with both one hour races to be run on Sunday.
