Porsche Centre Melbourne has recruited one of Australia’s leading sports car drivers, Nick McBride, for the forthcoming season of the Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia series.
McBride, a 26-year-old Melbourne lawyer, has contested the past four seasons of the competitive one-make series, in which time he has achieved three pole positions, six race wins and two round victories across 32 round starts.
McBride will join Carrera Cup’s most experienced driver, Marc Cini, who was recently awarded the TAG Heuer Carrera Challenge Endurance Cup. Cini has been an integral part of the Porsche Centre Melbourne Motorsport team for the last 16 years and is looking forward to line up alongside McBride in the 2018 season, which will feature the brand new 2018-spec Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race cars.
Porsche Centre Melbourne General Manager, Piero Pellegrini, is excited by McBride’s addition to Porsche Centre Melbourne’s racing outfit.
“Nick is a fantastic young man and a sensational race driver and we warmly welcome him to the Porsche Centre Melbourne family,” said Pellegrini.
“Nick encompasses exactly what we look for in a Porsche Centre Melbourne race driver and representative. He is not only an expert behind the wheel of a 911 GT3 Cup race car, but he fits the image of our business; he is an ambitious, well presented young professional both on and off the track. We look forward to working with Nick for the remainder of 2017 and having him represent our dealership on track for 2018.”
McBride is also pleased to join one of Australia’s most successful Porsche teams, which won three consecutive Carrera Cup championships across the 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons.
“I’m really looking forward to joining Porsche Centre Melbourne for the 2018 Carrera Cup season. Having raced against Porsche Centre Melbourne in Carrera Cup for the past four season, I know the team and how it operates. That’s why I’m excited to now be part of the operation leading into the 2018 season,” said McBride.
“I had some strong results this season in Carrera Cup, including a round win at Sandown. I now look forward to the new challenges 2018 will present, including gelling with the new team and learning the new 911 GT3 Cup race car and, hopefully, continue similar success into the new year.”
McBride will make his first official appearance for Porsche Centre Melbourne this weekend when attending the Geelong Revival.
