Jaxon Evans has had an incredible few weeks, securing the 2018 Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia title before participating in, and eventually winning, the 2018 Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme Shootout.
Evans will now move to Europe to take his position as a Porsche Junior and compete in the 2019 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
Before this, however, Evans was given the opportunity to test a Supercar with Melbourne-based team Walkinshaw Andretti United at Winton Motor Raceway.
“A lot of fun,” Evans told Supercars.com at the rookie evaluation day.
“Very different to drive compared to what I’m used to in the Cup car, but I slowly came to grips with it and enjoyed it a lot.
“Hopefully I’ll be able to get my bum back in a seat and do more.
“In terms of sitting in the car and everything, it feels like I’m sitting in a lot bigger car. It’s a lot of power under your right foot and the braking and everything is obviously very different. Having a gearstick there and having to heel-and-toe was something unique for me, something I haven’t done before, but a lot of fun.
“I enjoyed adapting to that and coming to grips with it.”
Evans wasn’t the only Carrera Cup young gun at the test; fellow Junior Shootout attendee Dylan O’Keeffe also took part in the evaluation day with Garry Rogers Motorsport. The experience was O’Keeffe’s second in a Supercar having completed a test with Erebus Motorsport earlier in the year.
