Scott Taylor will make his return to the Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship at Queensland Raceway on August 8-10.
A former category regular, Taylor took a sabbatical in 2024 allowing rising star Nash Morris to drive the Scott Taylor Motorsport Porsche 992 GT3 Cup Car for a full-season campaign.
Now Taylor will step back in after two successful test days at Queensland Raceway to bolster the field in the highly competitive Pro-Am Class.
The round at Queensland Raceway marks the first time the category has competed there since 2008. While many of the teams and drivers have tested at ‘The Paperclip’ in recent weeks, in terms of racing proper, it will be a clean slate for all competitors.
Queensland Raceway is the perfect place for Taylor to make his return to the category โ his first since the 2022 season finale on the Gold Coast.
Taylor is excited to join the field and race his beloved Porsches again following his participation in selected meetings in an older generation 997 GT3R, with the last event in Darwin encouraging his return to Carrera Cup.
He says that he will see how his return at Queensland Raceway goes before committing to otherย events.
Joining Taylor representing STM at Queensland Raceway is Morris in Dunlop Super2 ย as he continues his push for the title with Tickford Autosport.
The Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 at Queensland Raceway is scheduled for August 8-10.

#222 Scott Taylor Motorsport Porsche 992 Cup Car
โIn Darwin I was fortunate enough to drive my GT3R and I love driving that car, so after the weekend I knew I had to get back in a Porsche,โ said Taylor.
โWe arranged to have a test day in my Porsche Cup Car 10 days ago and I went all day. I loved it and got out saying โthis thing is not scaring me anymoreโ, so I got back in it a couple of days ago where I was doing incredible lap times.
โI was concerned about, with myself getting older, my capacity to understand what is a more aerodynamically driven car compared to the older model where mechanical grip is more important.
โI loved the test days I completed in the Porsche and Queensland Raceway is the best place to make my return as itโs my home track, in my own backyard.
โWeโll leave the calendar open, but if all goes well at Queensland Raceway, then I’ll have a look at other events during the year alongside my V8 SuperUte.โ
