Matt Kingsley will field an all-Queensland entry at the coming Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia round in Townsville, securing backing from the famous Sunshine State landmark, the Big Pineapple.
Kingsley was awarded the drive of the Guest Car in Townsville after two impressive performances at Adelaide and Phillip Island, tempting the Big Pineapple owners to again support the Gold Coast based racer.
The Townsville event will be the second occasion Kingsley receives backing from the Big Pineapple, having raced the eye-catching pineapple-inspired Porsche at the last round at Phillip Island.
“Townsville will be a special round for me – I’m a Queenslander racing with an iconic Queensland sponsor competing in my home state,” said Kingsley.
“Racing the Big Pineapple Porsche at Phillip Island certainly turned heads and sparked a lot of interest. I expect the same reaction when racing in Townsville.
“It will be a big week for Queensland for the Townsville event. We’re expecting the Maroons to cap off another successful State of Origin earlier that week, so hopefully we can make it a perfect week for Queensland.”
Kingsley is a former Porsche Staff Solutions International GT3 Cup Challenge Australia competitor, winning the 2009 Porsche title and continuing in the one-make category until the end of the 2011 season.
Kingsley’s Porsche will sport branding of the Big Pineapple Music Festival and the Big Pineapple Markets at Townsville.
