Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer has increased its support of Porsche racing in Australia, expanding its on-track involvement across both the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia and Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge Australia championships in 2019.
TAG Heuer is now the Official Watch of both Carrera Cup and GT3 Cup Challenge along with the naming rights partner of the Pro-Am class across both series. TAG Heuer will also retain naming rights of the Fastest Lap Award and Pole Position Award in Carrera Cup for the coming season.
The 2019 season will mark the 12th year of Carrera Cupโs partnership with TAG Heuer. Carrera Cup first partnered with the Swiss watchmaker from the 2004 season through to 2007. Thereafter, the two brands again collaborated from 2012 through to the coming 2019 season.
The expanded partnership will now see TAG Heuer race car branding added to all GT3 Cup Challenge entries and offering significant prizes at the end of the 2019 GT3 Cup Challenge season.
โItโs rare to have a relationship between two brands that is as strong and meaningful as what Porsche enjoys with TAG Heuer in Australia,โ said Toni Andreevski, Porsche Cars Australia Director of Marketing & Motorsport.
โBoth Porsche and TAG Heuer have a strong heritage in motor racing and both continue their motor racing involvement to this day. To have TAG Heuer not only continue with Carrera Cup but also expand the partnership into the GT3 Cup Challenge series, which has gone from strength to strength in the past few seasons, is tremendous for the Porsche motor racing programme in Australia.โ
Porsche PAYCEย Carrera Cup Australia will begin this week at the Adelaide 500 on February 28-March 03, while Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge Australia will start its 2019 season at the Tasmania SuperSprint on April 5-7.
