2017 PORSCHE Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia champion David Wall is back.
After missing the first two rounds of the 2024 championship, Wall will make a triumphant return to the series at Hidden Valley this week with new support aboard his Wall Racing Type 992 GT3 Cup Car.
A veteran of 80 rounds and 236 Carrera Cup races, Wall is one of the series’ most successful racers ever however was forced to watch from the sidelines this year as he searched for sponsorship.
However, returning support from long-time backers including Brennan IT and Paynter Dixon, as well as new backers Innovation Race Cars, Muscle Car Warehouse, Upload Strength, SP Tools, Encore Corporate Cars and Gilbert & Roach Huntingwood will see the well-known #38 car return this week.
Wall’s Carrera Cup track record is formidable: his 2017 championship joined by third in 2016 and 2019, a runner-up finish in 2018, fourth in the 2021 season and fifth in 2022.
He finished third in the first race on the Gold Coast last year however damage in the finale’ saw him out of the round and also for last year’s Adelaide finale – the first round he had missed since returning to the championship in 2016.
Wall Racing has continued to field cars in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge and TCR Australia this year, while Wall has also remained busy with a strong performance in the Bathurst 12 Hour enduro in February.
Action commences at the Betr Darwin Triple Crown this week with a Transporter Parade through town Wednesday night, followed by Track to Town on Thursday – which will feature three cars from the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship for the first time.
