David Russell and TekworkX Motorsport will continue their winning partnership with Hire A Hubby for the 2025 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship.
Hire A Hubby will enter their third year of sponsorship with the frontrunning Gold Coast-based team, having first combined for another winning year in 2022.
Russell made the move to TekworkX Motorsport for the 2024 season and had an immediate impact with 12 podiums and three race wins, including his maiden round win in Carrera Cup. The year ended with a formidable run of form that included six consecutive podiums, and propelled Russell to second in the Championship.
โTo be able to have that continuity with the team is something Iโve not had for quite some time in Carrera Cup,โ said Russell.
โI really want to thank Rob and Astrid, Hire A Hubby and all of my group of sponsors. Itโs a bit of unfinished business for us, there are some things we didnโt get right that we want to hone in on so we can be as competitive as possible.
โWe finished the year really strong, but we were a little bit inconsistent early on which put us on the backfoot, so really focusing on coming out strong in Sydney.
โThe competition is so tough, a bad day in Carrera Cup can put you 15thย and only a couple of tenths off. The team preparation and engineering play an important role, and thereโs a lot of very talented young guys that keep me on my toes.โ
For 2025 Russell will be joined by a second Pro-Class entry, with Tom McLennan recently announced as TekworkXโs newest signing. The duo previously partnered as Bathurst 6 Hour teammates in 2024.
โTommy is going to be a huge asset to the team, heโs a great talent, to have someone I can bounce data and setup across is one thing Iโm looking forward to. Heโs someone that I can trust to have that input on what a good direction is on the setup.โ
The season commences at the Thrifty Sydney SuperNight from February 21-23, the first of an eight-round calendar which includes a visit to TekworkXโs home track at Queensland Raceway.
