DALE Wood has scored his first TAG Heuer pole award in qualifying for the third round of the 2018 Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia, while Anthony Gilbertson topped the TAG Heuer Pro-Am class for the second time this year.ย
Wood’s stunning 1m30.64s best came on his ninth and final lap of the session and saw him edge out Dylan O’Keeffe by just 0.27s in a tight session, and makes him the third different pole position winner this year.
Championship leader Jaxon Evans and defending champion David Wall make up the second row, while James Moffat and Alex Davison were fifth and sixth, respectively. Nick McBride, Jordan Love, Cameron Hill and Michael Almond completed the top-10.
Gilbertson and TAG Heuer Pro-Am class leader Roger Lago traded fastest laps in their battle for the class pole, the McElrea Racing driver coming out on top by just 0.3 seconds to back up his pole scored in Adelaide earlier this year.
Lago edged out Stephen Grove and Tim Miles for second, while Adrian Flack and Max Twigg were fifth and sixth in class, respectively.
The first of two, 25-lap races commences at 2:15pm AEST at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit, and will be shown live on FOX Sports 506.
